BASIC: a programming language for all designed by Einstein's Hungarian research assistant
János Kemény, a Hungarian-born professor and former president of Dartmouth College, is remembered for his fight against discrimination and his contribution to the development of the BASIC programming language. He believed in the importance of bringing computing to everyone and worked to make it more accessible. Kemény's legacy extends beyond his technical achievements, as he was also a university reformer who opened Dartmouth to Native Americans, black people, and women, defying resistance and advocating for knowledge accessibility.
